2012: Thoughts
Posted: Saturday, December 5, 2009 by GGdTJJ inWell, at last, I watched 2012, sort of late among others.
Will touch on few things, the movie itself and also the thoughts I had from the movie.
**spoiler warning!**
2012 is a comedy film.
Yes, I enjoyed the film mostly of its content that makes me laugh, and I laughed at a lot of things, including the part where the main character drove the limousine and drove very fast. Why do I laugh? I find it resembling Need For Speed, you knocked into others' cars, you flew over the edge, you did sudden turn, drift, this and that!
I laughed also at numerous animations they came up with that looks unreal. Most notable one includes the plane escaping from the Yellowstone Park (I kept on thinking of Silverstone..) from the huge smoke - the plane just looked like a video game, few years ago one leh!!
Then we have the waves, tsunamis... I am sure they could do a lot better than that, it doesn't look real to me. I expect something better with their budget and their publicity on the movie. My rough memory could even tell me Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow are not much behind with the animation technology they use.
2012 ended rather less neatly.
You surely wish to know more about what happened to Gordon, don't you?
I was even thinking him appearing at the last to help Jackson fixing the gear system!
With the son expressing his thoughts on Gordon, he should have said something about him in the end, isn't it? I was expecting all that and 2012 ended it with kiss from the geologist and the president daughter......
Gordon did a great role in the movie, making me laugh for a lot of times!
And he had that ending...
Not even a screenplay on him, and playing some sad music, seeing him off in the gears....
Just a hand, and then good bye..
Haih...
And, what a stupid engineering system the thing has.. The gate not shutting down engine cannot start..
It's arguably the best technology they can have at that time and they can't even force the engine start without the gate closing. They should be something in place to shut off all these safety features! I am expecting the best technology, but that's stupid, like Proton Wira, this not on, then that not working...
And I thought they would land somewhere near the South China Sea which is near Malaysia after finding themselves not getting fuels in Hawaii, but instead, they land at somewhere very close to the Cao Ming thing where you can take a lorry and reach there in minutes/hours? Even they use the Bentley also cannot make them reach there in minutes/hours if they really land in Malaysia...
Oh ya, I forgot, the pole shift theory thing... maybe that's the trick?
Oh, I want more Sahsa la..
He so yeng..
The russian slang english and then that cool face..
First time I feel a guy in a movie that I want to see more of him (sign of becoming gay?)
Oh, he and Gordon, nice pair!
ALright, say so many bad things, should say some nice things already.
It's indeed that it reflects some of the humane quality of being a human, most notably the President decision to stay with his people and also how Adrian convince other leaders to allow them taking the trip.
It's indeed that there are quite some touching scene towards the end but I just rather couldn't make myself touch due to extreme coldness in the cinema and also the desire to attend the toilet!
But my tears did roll in my eye when there are in Yellowstone, and Jackson nearly fell into the crust, and the two children were having red eyes. I thought Kate would run out, but that doesn't spoil me from getting touched!
And, that's really great when Jackson got up, and run and run to the plane!
One thing, Yuri sacrificing himself to push his fat child up is also quite nice.
Ah ah, I must say.. the Yuri's gf middle finger thing is like the best in the movie.. I knew it would happen..
and I was waiting that, and it seemed it's not going to happen and it did happen! That timing is just nice and perfect!
Of course, it does give a reflection to human to be humane and treat people well, but I find the movie failing to give viewers a moral lesson. At least, tell us to be more appreciate to the earth, or the family. Adrian speech at the end to the leader is just telling them we, calling ourselves human, must be civilised and cannot do those uncivilised things, but then, what can people infer from that?
Do agree that this movie shows strong family bonds and loves which is what we need importantly though..
Would appreciate more if this movie is willing to play more things on moral lesson instead of the bad bad animation of tsunami!
Talking about tsunami and I was thinking how if their prediction of the tsunami impact was wrong? That's just a simulation leh! And those who have little idea on simulation will know that we are using computers to help us guess the numbers, which can be essentially wrong if not enough information.
Anyway, getting tired and will talk about the thoughts I have from this movie next time.
What would I do if 2012 is really the day?
