It's about 2.5 hours long as far as I am concerned.
But I find every minutes makes its own story and deserves the credits.
I'll skip the plot to avoid any spoiler but I will comment the movie as I blog, which may or may not contain spoiler.
What I like one thing on Avatar is that, they have made enough details to the Navi world, about their religion, culture, the forest, the animals etc. You get to know a new species, a new world, a new thought, as in, how the Navi behaves, what they believe in.
I also like the fact that the love story between the characters are not put too much of attention yet when they confess, it is so touching enough to just feel that, it's wonderful and blissful!
And the movie just has so many scenes that would look much better with 3D, too bad it's only 1 spot left for the 3D when we rushed to the cinema. You know the bird eye view will be A LOTTTTTTTT better with 3D!!
And yes, the animation effects of Avatar is far better than 2012, at least I don't feel awkward on the Navi, which is generated by computer entirely! Like the effects of waterfall on the floating mountain there very much!
The movie actually uses the 'cup theory' posted earlier by me, from 2012 as well. Let me recall, it's like when the human asked the Navi to leave but Navi commented that the human is a full cup that will accept nothing! The human is arrogant.
One thing, rather sad to see how Navi get beaten easily when they are said to be "hard to kill" at the beginning of the movie. They have naturally present carbon reinforced bone, so cool!!
Let me sum up my idea.
Avatar, a lot better than 2012, it gives a deep thought to human about what we want to do, what we are asking, and what we can do to our environment. It reflects how human can be so business-minded and turn self not human. It also shows how love overrides species! A bit long, 2.5 hours, but worth the 150 minutes! Like the cup theory being brought up again!
