Hatyai (Food)

Alright, keep this short and organised.

First Day - Lunch

Well, it is sort of the pork intestine, organ, meat etc. with rice. The assorted porks are found in a salted vegetable soup and you see the meat in it? That's very delicious..
And well, the portion is bigger, just that I forgot to take pictures when it's served. Too hungry!!
And you see the bottle at the other side? That's sugar cane juice, comes in the form of a big bottle, and is enough to serve 5 people. That's the way Thai drinks sugar cane!
50baht per serving, 50baht per bottle of sugar cane juice.

First Day - Dinner

This is the buffet option you can have at the Sky Buffet 33rd floor, up above in Lee Garden Hotel.
Well, you see the delicious tom yam soup? Yup, quite delicious but don't find it differ too much from what the Malaysian have. See the other soup in the other bowl, it's fish maw soup (鱼漂), and it's something really cheap over there and something very nice, too! The buffet is alright but you may not want to have it again, if you want something better..
Also, discovered, Bai Ka Pao is actually a Thai dish!
149baht per person, 99 baht per person (aged 60 above).

Second Day - Breakfast

So, again, you see assorted pork.. This time in Thai mihun soup. Something quite delicious, too!
And you see the assorted kuih-miuh (cake/dessert(?)/whatever you call it in English), quite nice, too. Their Yar Char Kuai is short short, like a butterfly!
Assorted pork Thai mihun soup 50baht, kuih-muih <=10baht each.

Second Day - Lunch

So, this has a story. We went to visit the municipal park in Hatyai to see all the Buddhism statues and apparently the tuk-tuk we boarded is home to a driver who loves to cook. He then brought us to his sister's restaurant and took over the wok and cooked for us.
Something very local and very simple, and I believe, quite common for most Thai people for their meal.
You just don't feel any MSG in it at all!
350baht for everything, 5 people.

Second Day - Dinner

We took the courage to ask where has nice local Siam food and Kan Eng is what we were referred to.
And it really holds to its reputation and allow me to introduce the dish one by one.

Sort of Thai salad, comes with assorted vegetable (mostly cucumber I think), sour in taste but is too great as an appetiser.

You all nearly missed this out!! See the final one left?
This is actually a kind of small fish you can find in abundance in Thai (although you can find it quite often, too in Lukut/Port Dickson market). For those who have never eaten it, you have to try this fish. The soft and juicy meat is something you may not find in other fishes!

This is a masterpiece for bittergout fan. You certainly ate before how bittergout is being cooked together with the eggs, but this is really something. Just have a mouth and you will find yourself wanting the next. A must try for non-bittergout fan as you may just pick up another wonderful ingredients and open up a wide range of dishes who come in bittergout!

The favourite of my mum on that night. A very very clear soup that is cooked together with the so-called 'Siam vegetable'. Well, not sure what vegetable it really is, but the soup is something you find clear for. Yes, other clear, you can have no other adjective for this soup. If you don't like the spicy and sour taste of tom yam from the Thai, get a chance to try this local Thai soup, too. What they call it again?

If you think this feast is accompanied with plain water, then you are wrong!
We wanted a sugar cane juice, but it has been sold out. We have no choice but to accept another better juice! The guava juice.

Well, no one can deny they use the same material of bottle of what battery water uses. But that doesn't affect its taste at all. You don't find any thick taste in it, but instead, a smooth and light taste of guava that will encourage you to keep on to drink and drink it. A little bit of sweet, but you most probably want more of it even if you hate sweet!

So, of all, you think this is very expensive?
No, testimonials reveal this is a very inexpensive restaurant to dine in, and it totalled at 310baht, cheaper than our lunch earlier!

Third Day - Breakfast
Aww, I just lost the mood to keep on writing after writing that wonderful meal. Never mind, will try to keep you all watery.
And no, not again, another meal of assorted pork..

And this is what they call Singapore Bak Kut Teh. And wait, I had it in Thai. yes, I had Singapore Bak Kut Teh in Thailand.
This one, you get a clearer picture of the butterfly-like Yao Char Kuai.
Not used to such heavy food for breakfast, don't really enjoy too much in this meal.
60baht per person.

Ah one thing, you have to call it the king of fast food even if it's not n the fast food category at all. If you went to fast food restaurant, you know you made an order and you looked at the servant to go and take your hamburger, fries, soft drink etc. Well, that is some time that you have waited actually, don't you?
But this thing, this Thai Singapore Bak Kut Teh is a beast. The moment I sat down, and the food is served!
Yup yup yup, you made your order at the counter, and the food tailed you to the table.

Third Day - Lunch
Is this what I have been waiting for? McD!!
The longed Pork burger of McD, called the Samurai Pork, is this one!

Well, emm, doesn't look nice, aren't it?
You know McD has very good people on Photoshop to make the pictures very nice, don't you? So, surely the actual food doesn't look as appealing.
But the fact it being a pork burger is so tempting!!
And the taste is very very good!
Dip in don't-know-what-sort-of sauce, the pork meat doesn't feel chewy. You can easily bite it off and chew in your mouth before finding it wanting to be swallowed already!
Alright, maybe you want to see some extra thing of McD!
For fillet fan, introducing the double fillet!!

One thing to talk about is the meat of the fish. It is softer than what we have in Malaysia, not to say it comes in two layers.

And if you like KFC cheesy wedges, why not try the McD cheesy fries?

Something, well, special I guess, but not to an extent to be so good that I want to eat it again..

Perhaps you want to know, here is the McD Menu.

You see the Triple Beef Cheeseburger at the left end??
Wow, and if you can't see it, there is actually a Double Big Mac in the menu. How could one finish it?

Oh ya, the price for Samurai Pork Burger per set is 109baht.

Extra
Perhaps you want to see some other menus and photoshop skill of other fast food restaurant.
Pizza Hut

KFC menu

No dinner plate and snack plate apparently. More burgers...

Well, that's all for the food post of Hatyai.
May it make you watery!
